This area just east of the Santa Rosa Mountains, where its foothills jut out into the desert near La Quinta, used to be home to the Cahuilla Indians. Later, it was a watering hole along a stagecoach route, and for many years, a working ranch.
The recent development of the site into residential properties required rockfall protection to be installed.
Project Overview
Geovert supplied and constructed 1250ft of 100kJ and 500kJ of Geobrugg rockfall barriers along the boundary of the development to protect the new residences from rockfall. Excavation of the mass 42” footings for the post foundations and ground anchors installed for the lateral and upslope anchors was completed along the toe of the slope. The barrier was efficiently erected, aligned, tensioned and signed off by Geovert’s experienced and competent team.
The original lay out of the designed barrier was required to change to due to the geometry of the ground and ditches that were built so changes to the structure were required to ensure the systems effectiveness. Working with a proactive client and engineer enabled a quick adaption to designs to suit the changing site conditions allowing our team to continue without delay to the project.
