Awards finalist announcement for Geovert NZ

Updated: Jul 29

We are delighted to announce that Geovert have been chosen as a finalist at the 2024 Civil Contractors New Zealand Hirepool Construction Excellence Awards - Category 2, for their outstanding contribution to the SH25A Tarapahi Slip Remediation Works.

Completed Taparahi Bridge in New Zealand

Our involvement in the SH25A Taparahi Rebuild project after storm events caused a 100m section to be swept away, is a great example of how successful a high-trust collaborative agreement - such as we had with joint venture partners Fulton Hogan and McConnell Dowell - can be. This agreement allowed the collaborative intent set by NZTA Waka Kotahi to flow smoothly through to all parties involved. As a result, everyone felt empowered by high levels of trust, which helped us effectively work towards the common goal of reopening the road and reconnecting the Coromandel communities.

The fast-track nature of the project resulted in constant scope development, creating complexity and challenges. Our team worked collaboratively throughout the lifecycle of the project, always willing to consider all angles and find best for project solutions. A high level of trust was fostered between team members, and this was critical to project success. A strong sense of purpose drove the team to persevere, putting in long hours of graft regardless of ongoing challenges to reconnect the affected communities and businesses. This commitment resulted in rapid progress, with completion achieved three months ahead of schedule. An outstanding effort by all!

As Byron our Superintendent commented “This was the best project I have ever worked on. It was a one team effort with everyone on the same page and fully committed to getting the job done, an experience I will treasure.”

The awards will be presented on the big stage during the Hirepool Construction Excellence Awards Dinner on Friday 16th August. Good luck team!
